Letter from the Chair

The star and inspiration of this event is my son, Cory. Cory is 16 years old and loves snowboarding and outdoor sports. He acquired a brain injury in June, 2003 at 10 years of age and was a day patient with the Brain Injury Team at Bloorview Kids Rehab for five months. He continues to benefit from a number of Bloorview’s programs and services as an outpatient since being discharged. Because of the services Bloorview provided to Cory, he is able to enjoy snowboarding and other sporting activities today. Cory wanted to give back to Bloorview for giving him the opportunity to enjoy the sports he loves and decided to host a skiing and snowboarding event in Bloorview’s honour.

Bloorview is the gold-standard in care, research, and education for kids with disabilities and their families. As Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation and complex continuing care teaching hospital, it is an international leader in childhood disability. Bloorview has 650 inpatient admissions and 53,000 outpatient visits each year from across the province, Canada, and around the world. Bloorview serves children, from birth to age 19, with disabilities.

Bloorview Kids Foundation raises funds from the community for Bloorview Kids Rehab. Community and private investment enables Bloorview to help children with even the most severe disabilities live ordinary and sometimes extraordinary lives — just like everybody else.
